"I like me. I'd buy myself a beer."
That might be one of the simplest and most straightforward measures of confidence I've heard in a long time. A rancher called Dry Creek Dwayne said this on a podcast I listened to.
I know the picture below is the worst kind of nightmare to end up in a pub with two versions of me.
But like Dwayne, it took me many years to become the sort of person I would like to be friends with. But once you get there, you will have unshakeable, authentic confidence.
Think about it - would you want to grab a drink/hang out with yourself?
No, I don't think I'm the smartest person in the room, and yes, I make plenty of mistakes. But in those quiet moments and days, I do genuinely enjoy my own company.
True and Authentic Confidence isn't about thinking you're better than everyone else.
It's about genuinely liking who you are and wanting to become a better version of yourself.
So here's the question: If you met yourself at a pub, would you stick around for a second pint? If not, what would you need to change to become the kind of person you'd want to spend time with?

PS - I don't drink beer anymore, so I have to stick with sparkling water.
